Magic that is bad. Some folks get scared just hearing it out loud. People all across the world still talk about the subject, whether they think it’s a superstition, an old wives’ story, remove magic, or something that makes them shiver. People talk about it behind your back, neighbors blame it for their bad luck, and sometimes you blame that shattered mirror or salt spill for three days of bad luck.
But what if someone really thinks they are cursed or weighed down? Ignoring it won’t make your headaches go away, your bad luck go away, or that heavy feeling in your house go away. So, what should someone do if they think dark powers are at work?
Let’s go right to the point: first, clean. Even if it’s snowing outside, open all the windows and doors. Fresh air seems to get rid of more than just musty smells. Sweep every last inch. Some traditions say that you should sweep right out the front door, as if you were chasing away imaginary cobwebs. This little thing frequently makes me feel strangely powerful.
You can use salt for more than simply fries. Put it in little bowls in the corners of the room or spread it out on the thresholds. A lot of cultures think that salt cleanses energy. It’s like an old-fashioned reset button to pour it into running water and let it mix and disappear.
This place also has a lot of incense and herbs. Light some sage or frankincense and let the smoke drift into dark places. Don’t choke yourself; waft it. Open a window and make it a ceremony. Have you ever heard of sound as a cleaner? A bell ringing or a spoon banging on a pot can break up sluggish energy. Don’t be afraid. Why not give in to musical mayhem if it gets rid of ill luck?
Praying. Meditation. Time to be quiet with whatever higher power or good force you believe in. Speak the words out loud. Words have power, and saying affirmations out loud often helps get rid of anxiety. Some people even repeat old rhymes that have been passed down over the years. Anyone who has ever sang “rain, rain, go away” knows how comforting it is to ask for the same thing over and over again.
Want another tip? Water. As you wash your hands and face, think on how your problems are going away. Some people clean the whole house using water combined with herbs like basil or rue. The more fragrant the herbs, the better. Even if you don’t believe in it, the act feels cleansing.
But sometimes the spooks won’t move. Maybe terror stays, or dreams get weirder. That’s when chatting helps. If you’re having a hard time, don’t try to deal with problems you can’t see on your own. Talk to a friend, family member, or spiritual counselor. You’d be surprised at how many difficult people feel better just by talking about their anxieties.
Don’t think cleaning up mess is easy. When you throw away an old, broken clock or a pile of dusty newspapers, you’re making room for new, lighter energy. Sometimes, moving forward means getting go of the past.
And last but not least, sometimes poor luck is just life. The occasional stubbed toe, missing the train, or rain on your only day off. Everyone goes through it. But the approaches above can’t hurt and often help when actual fear or strange things keep happening. So, every new morning is a chance to start over. Sweep, splash, chat, toss, and do it all again. If dark magic is around, it won’t enjoy how positive you are.
